About Us
Hello, I’m Kalana. Pronounced kuh-lay-nuh. I was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama, now living and building in Atlanta, Georgia. I grew up in a big, mixed family, and hand many different hands that helped raise me. Different people, different perspectives, different ways of moving through the world — and all of it shaped who I became. But having so many people around doesn’t always mean having somewhere to land. I learned to figure life out myself and not waiting or relying on others. I became the serious one and the fun one. The responsible one and the creative one. The resilient one holding it together and the one falling apart and the one getting back up — sometimes all in the same day. And honestly — I didn’t always want to be. It wasn’t a choice. It just became necessary and a second nature. What that upbringing gave me, though, was range. I grew up between so many different people and perspectives that I was never just one thing. My taste, my sense of self, my social interactions— always a blend.
Funny enough, I never had any desire to be a CEO, a business owner, or anything along those lines. Blended by Kalana started out of frustration after waking up to find a piece I spent a decent amount of money on flaking, after it claimed being water-proof, long lasting, etc... I was pissed and thought, "at this point, let me just do it myself." I felt like I always had a strong sense of style — layered, versatile, intentional, expressive — but for years I felt like my creativity lacked. I realized jewelry was a big part in my comfort level of style which is subtle with pops of spice and I felt that jewelry was always the best final touch. Problem was, the jewelry I actually loved was too expensive to justify taking a gamble on if it would last me or not. And the jewelry I could afford? It would rub off, fade, fall apart, or turn my finger green within days from losing the layer of protection. I was spending real money on pieces that couldn't survive my work expectations of washing/sanitizing hands all day, sweating, etc. I then found a passion, and I feel the need to produce great quality pieces for my friends, my family, daughters and sons of those, and those who just crave a great piece of jewelry. I've always moved between worlds — different aesthetics, different moods, different versions of my day — and I wanted my jewelry to reflect that. Gold and silver together. Both. Because that's how I live. That's how most of us live, if we're honest about it.
There's something about choosing to wear both metals at once that feels like a quiet declaration. You're not conforming to one look or one rule. You're blending. And that word — Blended — carries everything I am. How I grew up. My hair. My friends. My lifestyle. The diversity and the versatility and the refusal to be put in one box.
And then there's the durability — which matters just as much as the aesthetic. I needed stability. Something I could put on and not think about again. Something that wouldn't let me down at the worst possible time. I've lived enough of a life to know that the things you can actually rely on are rare. I wanted to make jewelry that was one of those things.
I am now a full timed licensed dental hygienist, a full time student, and yet, I built this brand in whatever hours were left. That should tell you how serious I was about finding that solution, and the pieces I make are built with that same standard I bring to everything else — precision, intentionality, and the understanding that if something is going to be worth your time, it has to actually work. Every piece is made from .925 sterling silver, Argentium or gold-filled. Hypoallergenic. Sweat and water resistant. Won't flake, chip, or fade. Built to be worn to the clinic, the classroom, the gym, and the going out — and never taken off.
The Never Naked collection exists for exactly that reason. Pieces designed to live on your finger. To stack with the Blended statement pieces or stand alone. To be the thing you never have to think about because it's always there, always right, always holding up. That's what stability looks like in jewelry form.
